Motion brought by defendants to obtain direction with respect to costs of action-On November 29, 1999, Court making order disposing of trial of issue ordered under r. 107-On February 11, 1999, defendants made offer in amount more than adequate to meet possible liability defendants might have in principal, interest, costs with regard to claim as limited in accordance with Hague Rules-Offer made in February 1999 engaging terms of r. 420-Plaintiff entitled to costs on party and party basis up to date of offer-Defendants entitled to double costs from latter date-Defendants raised possibility of Court making lump sum order-As matter of policy Court should favour lump sum orders-Such orders save time, trouble for parties, more efficient method for them to know liability for costs-Court prepared to make further order awarding lump sum if defendants largely successful on motion wished to draw order calculating amounts of costs to which each party entitled-Federal Court Rules, 1998, SOR/98-106, rr. 107, 420.
